Though originally known as the North Clark Street House, the building now houses the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy.
Founded in 2017 as a statewide center for early language and literacy, the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy promotes research-based practices for children from birth to age eight, as well as their families, communities, and teachers in childcare centers, pre-schools, and K-3 classrooms. The Deal Center partners with universities, technical college early childhood education programs, alternative educator preparation programs and other public and private stakeholders to engage the community-at-large in the important goal of improving Georgia’s literacy rate as measured at the end of third grade.
