GC Reads is an innovative common reading program that seeks to engage students, faculty and staff in writing that reinforces our institutional values at Georgia College & State University and encourages creative exploration of current topics. GC Reads articles are aligned with GCSU's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Bobcats FIRST, and are meant to be engaging and thought-provoking.
Question: What do I do?
Answer: Choose one or more articles from the GC Reads list to read. You are encouraged to read more than one
Question: I am being asked to login in. What is my username and password?
Answer: You may be prompted to enter your Unify credentials for certain items. This is the same login you use for your bobcats email, PAWS and Georgia View.
Question: Do I need to pick a specific article based on my major?
Answer: No! Read whichever article or articles that spark your interest.
Question: What is a micro seminar and when can I sign up for one?
Answer: A micro-seminar is the academic component of GC Reads and Week of Welcome. Students will gather in small groups facilitated by faculty and staff to engage in interactive and reflective discussion.
Signups for micro-seminars will open on August 1st.
Question: On the registration page for the micro-seminars, I am asked to choose a first and second preference on articles. Does this guarantee I'll be in a micro-seminar for that article?
Answer: Selecting your article preferences is a way for you to give feedback on the articles you most want to discuss. While your preference helps us to know where you would like to participate, and we do take that into consideration, we are not always able to place everyone in their first or even second preference. Due to space and discussion group sizes, you may be placed in a different micro-seminar.
