By creating a culture of assessment, the faculty and staff at Russell Library can show the importance of the library in innovative and traditional ways by working collaboratively with other entities on campus and within the library to evaluate and improve library services, resources, and spaces to support the institution’s vision.
Library assessment differs from academic assessment because library impact on student and faculty outcomes often can’t be measured directly. Library Assessment unit collaborates with library faculty and staff to design and track meaningful measures of the Libraries' impact on students and faculty. Library assessment:
- Helps library staff plan and conduct assessment projects
- Collects and analyzes data about library systems and services
- Shares findings with library staff to inform decision-making
